Every where you look the past few weeks people have been looking back at the past year in their lives. Some had good ones, others not so good, most we believe are like us a balance inbetween the two. We had our good moments here and our bad. We lost 3 of our babies this year, and gained 6 new ones. This year has been a rocky one, up one hill and than down another, but we got through it and we are still creating :)
We started off this past year, still figuring out what we were going to do. We founded J&C Creations in June of 2013. In the beginning we were making handmade pallet furniture, planter boxes, picnic tables. We found living in a town of less than 600 and not being able to travel to much to do festivals etc, we were not making very much. Our things were well made but they sat in the back yard or got used in the house for the most part. We moved on into doing hand drawn art on wood. We spent more money for paints, acrylic sprays, brushes etc. Again our work was good but some pieces took a week or more to do and by the time we took out supplies we were making nothing. And again we had pieces that piled up in the closet unsold. So bringing us back to the beginning of last year, we were at a standstill again. We changed course once more and started our online stores, and working more with digital painting. James had to go back to work so we could get out of the hole we had dug ourselves into. While he's away at the day job Cat has plugged along opening stores, resizing pictures, taking out backgrounds, adding other social media sites, and learning in the process how to do it all. On his days off James draws and paints all kinds of new designs for us to use. We started the first 2 stores on Zazzle and CafePress in Febuary of 2014. We made our first sale in March. Than we went months without selling anything at all. This month was our best so far but that isn't saying much, money wise we had kept our percentage to low and even with all of our sales, Zazzle being our most sale store only netted us around 30.00. CafePress almost 20.00. That's for the whole year, so no we are not getting rich here yet lol. James laughs at Cat when she says hunny we made .92cents today. But each sale is still a victory as well. It's been hours upon hours of work. But it's been fun and a learning experiance as well. We've also made a lot of friends along the way and that can never be a bad thing :) We knew at the start this would not just happen overnight. But we do see us getting there, we know we just have to keep trying and learning. The past year we have added so much more to get us out there in the world wide web. And it's working this morning we had a sale in Austrailia :) When we started we were only on just Facebook, we have now added, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, Polyvore, Wanelo, Society6 and now we have this new blog as well. James is drawing more and more every day and we keep adding more new things to our products. On Zazzle we now have 1118 products to choose from. About the same on CafePress and we are working to add designs to our new Society6 store as well. We see a lot of more work in the future year to come. And a lot more fun as well. We are working so that when the day comes that parkinson's prevents Cat from doing what she does now, James will already have everything set for him to carry this all on. It's been 8 years fighting this illness, 4 since she stopped all the meds and decided to fight it naturally as long as she can. Her mother had this and we know what's ahead in our future. We want to plan for that now before it's to late. The year to come has promise, more wonderful new unique designs and products will be coming your way. And more wonderful antic's of all our rescued babies as well. Hope you follow along with us and Have a Happy New Year.
